Description
The Surface Pro 3 (2014) fan is a component that cools the inside of the device. It draws in fresh air and removes the heat produced by the processor and the other components. When it runs badly, loudly or no longer spins, the device may overheat, slow down, switch off by itself or make a grinding noise. This compatible part is offered to replace a faulty fan in a Surface Pro 3 (2014).
Before you start, switch off the device, unplug the charger and wait for it to cool down. Work on a clean surface, with an anti-static mat if possible, and keep the small screws in a tray. Disconnect the battery before touching the ribbon cables, and never pierce or bend the lithium battery. If it is swollen, stop using the device.
Once the fan is fitted, power the device back on and check that the ventilation starts and the noise is normal. Monitor the temperature during normal use, then check again after a few hours of use.
