Description
The vibrator is the small motor that makes the iPhone 4S vibrate during calls, notifications and alerts. When it fails, the phone stays silent in vibration mode, or it no longer vibrates at all, even though the ringtones still work. This compatible part replaces the faulty vibrator and restores normal vibration, without touching the rest of the device.
Before you start, switch off the smartphone completely and disconnect the battery before handling the ribbon cables, to avoid any short circuit. Work on a clean surface, with suitable tools and small screws stored in a compartment, as they are very fine. Also think about static electricity: touch an earthed metal surface before touching the components. Never puncture or bend the lithium battery. If it is swollen, stop using it.
Once reassembly is complete, reconnect the battery, switch on the phone and test the vibration with a call or an alarm. Also check that the ribbon cable is properly clipped in and that nothing is rubbing. If the result is not what you expected, take the phone apart again to check the connections.
