Description
The vibration motor, also called the haptic motor, is the small component that makes your phone vibrate during calls, notifications and certain touch confirmations. On the iPhone 8, it sits in the lower part of the device and connects to the logic board via a ribbon cable. This compatible part lets you replace a faulty vibration motor, for when the phone no longer vibrates or makes an abnormal noise.
Before you start, switch the iPhone off completely and disconnect the battery before handling the ribbon cables, to avoid any short circuit. Work on a clean surface with suitable tools, and avoid electrostatic discharge, for example by touching an earthed metal surface. Never force the connectors and take the time to note exactly where each screw goes.
After assembly, reconnect the battery, switch on the device and test the vibration on several notifications or calls. If the battery is swollen, stop using it and do not puncture or bend it. Also check that the phone works normally before closing the casing for good.
