Description
The rear glass is the glass panel that protects the back of the phone, behind which sit the camera sensor and the internal components. This part, compatible with the Redmi Note 9, is used to replace a glass that is cracked, scratched or broken after a fall. A damaged glass can let in dust and moisture and interfere with the components underneath.
Before you start, switch the phone off completely and remove the battery if your model allows it. Gently warm the edge with a hairdryer on a moderate heat setting to soften the adhesive, then lift the glass off with a suction cup and a flat plastic tool. Carefully remove any remnants of the old adhesive. To avoid static electricity, work on a clean surface and avoid sudden movements.
After fitting, check that the glass sits flat all around the edge and that the device makes no unusual noise. Do not switch the device back on until the adhesive has fully dried. Then check that the flash and the camera work properly.
Tips
- Disconnect the battery before any work inside the device
- Warm the edge moderately to soften the adhesive
- Never puncture or bend a lithium battery
- Clean off all adhesive residue before bonding
- Check water resistance and camera function after fitting
