Safety
- Lithium-ion battery: do not puncture it, bend it or pry it with a metal tool. A swollen, hot or damaged battery must not be reused.
- Heat: apply heat in short, moderate steps; excessive heat damages the screen, the battery and the seals.
- Static electricity: work on a non-metallic surface and discharge yourself before touching the ribbon cables.
- Keep the phone switched off and disconnected throughout the procedure. Disconnect the battery before any other connector.
- Never force the phone open: the screen cables connect the two parts of the phone and tear easily.
- After repair, the original water resistance is no longer guaranteed.
Steps
Diagram · Device switched off, clean workspace 1Prepare your workspace
Back up your data, switch the phone off completely and disconnect all cables. Sit at a clean, well-lit surface, put on the anti-static wrist strap and set aside a place to sort the screws by location.
Diagram · Unscrew and keep the screws safe 2Remove the bottom screws
Unscrew the two small screws on either side of the charging port, at the bottom of the phone. Keep them separate, as they differ from the other screws.
Diagram · Heat gently 3Soften the edge adhesive
Heat the bottom of the screen gently until it is warm to the touch but not hot. This softens the adhesive holding the screen to the frame.
Diagram · Open like a book 4Open the screen
Attach the suction cup to the screen near the bottom and pull gently to create a small gap. Slide the thin tool in only a few millimetres, then run it along the edges without pushing it deep. Open the screen like a book, hinged on the right side, and prop it up without pulling it fully open.
Diagram · Disconnect the battery first 5Disconnect the battery
Remove the screws and the metal bracket covering the battery connector, noting where each screw goes. Then peel the battery connector away with the plastic tool, lifting it straight up, and move it aside so that it cannot make contact again.
Diagram · Lift the connectors 6Disconnect and remove the old screen
Remove the metal bracket covering the screen connectors, then gently lift each connector with the plastic tool. Once all the cables are free, remove the old screen and set it aside.
Diagram · New part: screen 7Transfer small parts if necessary
Compare the new screen with the old one: if the earpiece speaker, sensors or metal shields are not already fitted, move them one at a time. Handle the sensor cable with extreme care and keep the screws sorted by location.

Remove any leftover adhesive and dust from the edge of the frame, then fit the seal if one is supplied. Position the new screen, reconnect its cables first without forcing them, then refit their metal brackets.
Diagram · Test before closing up 9Reconnect the battery, test, then close
Reconnect the battery connector, refit its bracket and screws, then switch the phone on briefly to check the display, touch response and earpiece speaker. Switch it off, close the screen by pressing gently along the edges until it clicks, then refit the two bottom screws.
