Description
The charging IC is an electronic component on the motherboard that manages the incoming current when you plug in the charger. It regulates the voltage and current sent to the battery, protecting both the battery and the device's other circuits. This spare part, reference SN1705, is intended for the iPhone 12 Pro and is a compatible part, meaning it is designed to replace the current component without being produced by the manufacturer of that component.
When it is faulty, the phone may stop charging, charge erratically, overheat abnormally near the charging port, or switch off while plugged in. Before you start, switch the device off, disconnect the battery and work on a clean, anti-static surface. Use an anti-static wrist strap if you have one, and warm the area lightly at a moderate temperature so you do not damage the neighbouring components.
Once the fitting is complete, check the solder joints carefully under a magnifier and make sure no short circuit is present. Reconnect the battery, then run several full charge and discharge cycles to check the stability of the system. Never puncture or bend a lithium battery, and do not use a swollen battery.
