Description
This IC chip, or integrated circuit, is the component that manages battery charging when you plug the USB cable into the iPhone 7 Plus device. It controls the current and voltage sent to the battery to prevent overcharging and protect the entire motherboard. When it is faulty, the device may no longer charge, charge very slowly, or stop responding altogether when the cable is plugged in.
This is a compatible part, made by a third party, offered as a cost-effective alternative for repairing charging. Before any replacement, disconnect the device, remove the battery if possible and work on a clean, anti-static surface. Use a soldering station at a moderate temperature and an anti-static wrist strap to protect the components. A magnifier or microscope greatly helps check the chip's alignment before soldering.
After fitting, carefully check there is no short circuit and no excess solder before powering the device back on. Then connect the USB cable and check that the charging indicator responds normally. If the battery is swollen, stop using it and never puncture or bend it.
Tips
- Disconnect the device and remove the battery before any work
- Work with an anti-static wrist strap and a station at moderate heat
- Check the chip's alignment and the absence of short circuits before soldering
- After fitting, carry out several full charging cycles to check stability
- A swollen battery must no longer be used
Fitting
Fitting guide: work with the device switched off, disconnect the battery before touching any flex cable, keep the screws in order and test the part before closing up. A question before ordering? Write to us.
