Description
The power / volume flex cable is a small flexible circuit that connects the side buttons of your G2 to the motherboard. It carries the press of the power on/off button and the volume buttons. When these buttons stop responding, stay stuck, or the screen lights up without reacting, this part is often the cause, even if the rest of the device works.
Before you start, switch the G2 off completely and disconnect the battery before handling any cables. Work on a clean surface, protected from static electricity, with a suitable screwdriver and suction cups or a plastic spudger. Note where each screw goes, as they are not all the same length. Never force the connectors and avoid excessive heat during disassembly.
Once the cable is replaced and the device is closed again, test each button one by one: power on/off, volume up and volume down. If the part is compatible and the behaviour remains abnormal, reopen the device and check that the connectors are properly seated. A swollen or damaged battery must never be used: do not puncture it and do not bend it.
