Description
The charging IC is an integrated circuit that manages the power supply to the battery when the device is plugged into the mains. It regulates the current and voltage sent to the battery so it charges safely. On a Galaxy Note 10 Plus, a faulty charging IC can result in a phone that no longer charges, charges very slowly, or whose battery drains abnormally fast. This compatible part is made by a third-party manufacturer and is designed to replace the current component to restore normal charging.
Before any work, switch the device off and unplug the charger. Work on a clean surface at a moderate room temperature, and use an anti-static wrist strap or regularly touch a metal ground to avoid electrostatic discharge. Disconnect the battery before touching the ribbon cables, and handle the small components with fine tweezers. A swollen, punctured or bent lithium battery must never be used or heated.
After fitting, check charging with a working charger and an intact cable, then carry out a few full charge and discharge cycles to let the system stabilise. Monitor the temperature while charging: excessive heat is a reason to stop immediately.
