Description
This IC chip is an integrated circuit that manages USB charging, identified as Hydra USB Charging Controller NXP 1612A1, reference U6300. It controls how the device charges through the USB port and distributes power between the battery and the device's circuits. This part is intended for the iPhone 8 model. When it is faulty, you may notice that charging no longer starts, charging is very slow, or power from the cable no longer works properly.
This is a compatible part made by a third-party manufacturer. Before any work, switch off the device, unplug the charger and disconnect the battery if your model allows it. Work on a clean surface, protected from static electricity, using an anti-static wrist strap if possible. Remove the current part carefully, without forcing the connectors, and avoid excessive heat when desoldering.
After fitting, check that the device starts properly and charges correctly with your usual cable and charger. For a lithium battery, carry out a few full charge and discharge cycles to stabilise operation. Never puncture or bend the battery. If it is swollen, stop using the device.
