Description
The IC Chip Boost LCD Display, reference U1501, is an integrated circuit that powers and regulates the voltage needed for the LCD screen's backlight and display. It is fitted in some devices of the iPhone 6 Plus range. When it fails, you often notice a very dark screen, a flickering display, bands, or an image that disappears while the device stays on. It is a compatible part made by a third-party manufacturer, offered as an economical solution to replace the faulty component.
Before any work, switch off the power and disconnect the battery. Work on a clean surface, with an anti-static wrist strap if possible, and avoid touching the tracks. Moderate heat is enough to unsolder the current part: never force it, as the pads lift off easily.
After fitting, carefully check the chip's orientation and the quality of the solder joints before refitting the flex cable and battery. Switch the device on and check brightness, the absence of flicker and image stability for several minutes. If the battery is swollen, do not use it.
