Description
This IC chip is an integrated ringer amplifier circuit, identified by the references U4900 and U5000 in its name. It handles the signal that makes the ringtone of the iPhone X audible. When it fails, the ringtone can become weak, crackling or silent, while the rest of the phone works normally. This compatible part is made by a third party and does not necessarily match the characteristics of the current component exactly.
Before you start, switch off the power and disconnect the battery to avoid any short circuit. Work on a clean, anti-static surface, with a suitable soldering tip and a hot air station set to a moderate temperature. Remove the chip carefully, clean the pads and check that no tracks are damaged before fitting the new part.
After fitting, check the alignment of the chip and the absence of solder bridges under a microscope. Reconnect the battery, test the ringtone at different volumes and monitor the temperature of the device during the first uses. If the battery swells or overheats abnormally, stop using the device immediately and do not use it again.
